Street Work Forces Big Blue Bus Route Detour

The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Route 9 will miss 11 inbound stops around Sunset Boulevard and West Marquez Avenue because of road work, officials said.

Officials from the Big Blue Bus were only informed of the road work from the Los Angeles Street Maintenance on Monday morning, said Big Blue Bus spokeswoman Suja Lowenthal said.

“Our understanding is that it is only for this week,” she said. “About 11 stops will be missed and we have not setup any alternate stops because of potential impacts to residents.”

The detour will be in effect until Thursday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The missed stops are:        

• Sunset and Marquez    
• Sunset Salerno
• Sunset and Arno            
• Sunset and Livorno       
• Sunset and Marquez East/Baylor            
• Sunset and Las Casas    
• Sunset and Bienvenida
• Sunset and Northfield 
• Sunset and Muskingum              
• Sunset and El Medio     
• Sunset and Temescal Canyon

Amy Kalp from the LAPD West Bureau Traffic Committee, however, thinks that the detour may last longer as Marquez Avenue will get resurfaced next week and the west intersection between Marquez Avenue and Sunset Boulevard will be re-configured.
