Walking on on the PCH at 12:40 am on a Saturday night is just plain old fashioned suicide.

Yes, I have to agree, did any one ask her why she was doing it? That's about the second hit & run in that general area recently, isn't it?

Blame the victim? Really??? Accidents happen, and yes - sometimes those hit by cars have contributed to the event. But there is NEVER a good excuse for a driver not stopping to take responsibility for his/her own actions. And yes - this is the third hit-and-run in SM in about a month, two of which were fatal. Instead of speculating on why someone was on foot at a particular time -how about some best guesses on why a driver might not stop: DUI? Texting? Possession of illegal substances or other contraband? Or are they simply so wealthy/privileged that they feel above the laws of the state as well as those of common decency?

I agree with all the points made so far, including mine. Any more points? How about "Lack of Self-Responsibility" as well? BYW, it's still OK to speculate in America. One might speculate as to whether your email contain speculation, as well as innuendo, for example.

I wish there were security or traffic cameras over there solely for this reason, because this happens about twice a year.

I agree with John. I'd like to see traffic cameras on PCH. Put these drivers on notice that their actions are being recorded.

I agree with John and lahope!

You are correct - Stuart. It is still ok to speculate in America. However - it is not ok to strike down a pedestrian with a motor vehicle and keep on driving as if a bug has just hit your windshield. In fact - it is a felony. One might infer from your response that something in my post has struck a nerve with you. However - i will not speculate on what that could be. Peace out!

Wow!! Claudia!!! Thanks SO MUCH. What took you so long to determine this!! I'm sure no one living in the Palisades or reading Patch online realized that "it is not ok to strike down a pedestrian with a motor vehicle and keep on driving as if a bug has just hit your windshield. In fact - it is a felony." You are SO insightful. Are there any more such unknown laws that you are are aware of? :-)
