2 Suspects Reported in Smash-and-Grab in Marquez Knolls Area

Suspects reportedly pose as gardeners in Pacific Palisades. Neighbor does not call police during incident.

An allegedly brazen daytime break-in occurred Wednesday morning at a home in between the 1100 and 1300 block of Lachman Lane in Pacific Palisades, according to the Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association (MKPOA).

The victim reported the incident occurred between 9:15 and 10:45 a.m., where the suspected burglars accessed the garden area by jumping over a locked side gate and the rear window was smashed. The suspects reportedly took jewelry and foreign currency, ransacked drawers and closets and filing cabinet, rifled through checking account books. They left the TV, desktop computer and iPod which were in clear view.

A young neighbor home sick from school reportedly saw the suspects in the garden, according to the victim, who heard breaking glass and came out to look. Upon going outside the neighbor reportedly heard hedge clipping noises, as if the suspects were posing as gardeners, but then saw the male at the back window.

The neighbor did not call the police, according to MKPOA.

The two suspected burglars are described as:

  • Black man wearing blue hooded jacket
  • Woman, white or possibly hispanic.

The victim reports one of the burglars was small enough to crawl through a narrow and hazardous shaped hole of broken glass in the window. The victim added they called ACS, who are now on the lookout, and filed a report with the Los Angeles police.

If you see this combination of people aged around 25, especially knocking on doors please call the police immediately. If you ever hear a knock on the door, make sure they know someone is in when you don't answer the door by shouting that you can't come to the door etc.

Residents in a Brentwood neighborhood are also on the lookout for suspicious solicitors.
