Fundraiser for Audrey Kaller to rais efunds for Epilepsy Research

 STAY CLASSY

Last week I was reading the Palisades Post and learned about Audrey Kaller.  Audrey is a 14 and lives in the Palisades.  A little more than a year ago and completely out of nowhere, she started having seizures.  Audrey spent a long and difficult year filled with missed school, doctor's appointments, hospital stays, ambulance rides, medications, the loss of her singing voice, fear and struggle.

Audrey responded to her diagnoses by leaping into action.  She raised money.  She became a Junior Ambassador for Children's Hospital.  She and her dad flew to Washington, D.C. with other teens with epilepsy and lobbied Congress to increase awareness and funding for epilepsy research.  When she got her voice back, she performed at the Wee Rock! Kid's music festival for Children's Hospital.

Audrey persevered and today, she is on a medication that appears to have controlled her seizures.  She feels strong and in control.

Audrey's story touched me because she is such a strong girl.  Instead of feeling defeated, she choose to fight back and to make a difference.  She choose to "Stay Classy" in a tough situation.
