Alper Music School presents 3 bands at MKPOA block Party - Free

Alper's Young Musicians Big Band is an exciting and very talented group of 13-14 year olds now featuring 2 vocalists!
This rockin' 12 piece ensemble performs favorites by Basie, Ellington, Miller, Gillespe,  Goodman, Mancini, Hancock, Adderly, Santana, Weather Report and even Nat King Cole! The Group is backed by a pro rhythm section. The Instrumentation is 2 Trumpets, 5 Saxophones, Trombone and 3 Clarinets. Alper's Young Musicians really swing and will wow you with their improvisation! Alper says, "It’s inspiring to hear these young musicians swing. They are fearless in their solos.

Featured Palisadians are Harrison Garff, Zach Eastland, Jeremy Wells, Ryan Moon and Shiva Ramaswami.

Director Gregory Alper (Alper Music School Pacific Palisades), has enjoyed a 4 decade career performing, recording, composing for film and teaching young musicians. He composed the music for the original Warcraft game. Alper spent years in the New York studio and gig scene and he cut one of the seminal jazz fusion albums FAT DOGGIE in the late 1970s, which was recently re-mastered at Abbey Road Studios in London and re-released on First Hand Records.  Alper has also led the Children's Music Workshop Honors Orchestra Jazz Band in concert at Schoenberg Hall. These televised concerts have garnered 3 Emmys!

The Big band has incredible dedication, rehearsing together every Saturday for 20 months and have accumulated over 2 hours of performance material. They have appeared monthly at numerous venues - Gladstones, Matrix Theater, Talking Stick, Steve's Deli, Nortre Dame Middle School, Marquez Elementary, Village Green, Palisades Home and Garden Tour, Mogan's Café, Marquez Knolls Annual Party.
