Storm Brings Record Rainfall Totals

3.24 inches fall at UCLA on Sunday.

1. A storm is moving out of the Southland this morning but not before wreaking havoc. The storm and high winds caused floods, downed trees, power outages and hypothermia during the L.A. Marathon. Thousands of homes and businesses still are without power. 

2. Sunday's storm was a record rainfall for the March 20 date. UCLA received 3.24 inches of rain according to National Weather Service. Nearby totals: Beverly Hills got 4.12 inches,  Getty Center 3.72, Santa Monica 2.95, Culver City 2.68, LAX 2.45.

3. Forecasters say there is a chance of thundershowers through this afternoon, then the Southland is expected to receive a break on Tuesday. There is a chance of more rain, but not as heavy, from mid-week on, with temperatures below normal.

4. LAX was operating normally despite the storms. Passengers were more likely to experience delays on their way to the airport than flights at the airport, where only minor delays were reported.

5. Weather today: Cloudy with a chance of thunderstorms, high temperatures in the 50s. Tonight, partly cloudy skies with lows in the 40s.
