How to Make a Clementine Margarita

It's Cinco de Mayo, so why not celebrate with a sweet twist on the signature cocktail?

Cinco de Mayo celebrates Mexico's victory over the French during the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, according to History.com. The holiday is celebrated widely in the United States, especially in California, with fanfare … and of course margaritas.

But why not put a sweet twist on the cocktail this year? Palisadian author and mixologist Jordan Catapano offers up a recipe for a Clementine Margarita, which she says is naturally sweet and very refreshing thanks to a dash of fresh lemon, lime and salt!

  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1.5 ounces fresh squeezed clementine juice
  • 1/2 ounce fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice
  • Garnish with lime and salt the rim

And be sure to watch Catapano's video, "How to Make a Margarita," which was featured on ModernMom. The video shows you how to make a traditional margarita, so substitute the sweet and sour for clementine juice. Then sit back and enjoy a glass of sweet, salty, orangey perfection.
