Power Outage Affects 1,500 Customers in Pacific Palisades

The winter storm caused downed power lines at Sunset Boulevard and Marquez Avenue.

The winter storm that doused the Southland Thursday and brought gusty winds Friday caused a mass power outage in Pacific Palisades.

About 1,500 customers are affected by the outage, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. There were reports of downed power lines around Sunset Boulevard and Marquez Avenue. Marquez Elementary School is reportedly affected by the outage.

DWP advises residents not to touch a downed power line or anything that comes in contact with it and immediately call 9-1-1.

According to DWP, “[i]t is common for rain and wind storms, particularly the first significant storm of the season, to cause some temporary power outages as dried palm fronds, tree branches and other debris fall and make contact with power lines.”

Powers are expected to be restored sometimes Friday afternoon.
