Holiday Wish For Palisadians From Pastor Mees

Leaders of local congregations share their holiday wishes leading up to the annual Pacific Palisades Ministerial Association's Inter-Faith Thanksgiving Service on Nov. 21.

Congregations will unite and give thanks at the on Nov. 21 for the annual Pacific Palisades Ministerial Association’s . The service, which will include prayer, readings from both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, meditations and music is an effort to bring Palisadians together.

Leading up to the service, the participating ministers and leaders of the local congregations are sharing what they are thankful for this year. The following is from Pastor Wally Mees from .

I'm Pastor Wally Mees of Palisades Lutheran, and we are thankful for such a long list of blessings I hardly know where to begin. God has been so good to us during 2011, giving us another year of life, people of all walks of life to love, productive and useful work, and a spirit of thankfulness. In a world that seems to be inviting us more and more to feel shortchanged or envious of others, we have the reminder of our Lord Jesus to love even those who do not appear to love us. This year we have once again heard a praise report from John Davies, a missionary for over 30 years to the Kobon, Haruai and Minimib people of Papua New Guinea. These people can now read about Jesus in their own language due to John's and his wife Maila's dedication to them. We have heard from and supported Dr. Ben La Brot of "Floating Doctors," learning of their work in Haiti and other coastal areas as they float here and there bringing medical care and simple health care advice."No sweet drink at bedtime after brushing your teeth!" As we gather this Thanksgiving at the Self Realization Fellowship Lake Shrine Temple, we too will worship in a spirit of peace and gratitude for all God's bountiful care.
