Chabad Palisades Hosts 9/11 Remembrance Concert

Remembering 9/11, Chabad with David Babinet present a concert at Theatre Palisades.

Sunday evening, on the ten year anniversary of 9/11, Chabad Palisades held a concert at Theater Palisades to remember those whom our country has lost and to celebrate the unity it has created. Exhibiting the talents of singer David Babinet, local Palisadians experienced an array of music, ranging from operatic classics to popular hits on Broadway.

While the music brought people together, it is the message that was given by Rabbi Shlomo Zacks and Rabbi Zushe Cunin that Chabad wanted to be taken away with the audience.

“This is a tribute from the community celebrating what our community is: free. Tying in the high holidays of the Jewish New Year, 9/11 makes us remember three things: what we lost, what we are today, and what we see for our future for the benefit of those around us and those at large,” Schlome said.

Cunin believes that 9/11 is a day that brings people from all walks of life together.

“It is a day of freedom.  It is a day to remember to be grateful for those who have sacrificed for us and to remember that we have God given potential to be who we want to be.  We need to pass this onto our childrenss” Cunin said.

"To remember and celebrate today is important because it is the only way to keep these people alive,” said community member Audrey Greenberg, at the concert, about those who died.
