Girl Scout Teaching Drowning Prevention at Palisades Branch Library

Local Girl Scout Paige Hornbaker is doing a water safety program Thursday, Aug. 8 at 4 p.m. at the Palisades Branch Library for all ages.

The effort is to prevent drowning in the community for her Girl Scout Gold Award. She's given presentations in various areas libraries, such as one at the Playa Vista Library.

Along with her program, Hornbaker uses the mascot Josh the Otter to entertain the kids and read a book about Josh to teach about water safety. It is a great way for children and adults to learn about drowning prevention.
