In a grand salute to half a century of dance excellence, Westside Ballet is set to dazzle audiences with its 50th Anniversary Spring Performances, a tribute to the enduring legacy of dance and the visionaries who have shaped its history. This year's “Masters of Movement” series includes two Spring Showcases and a Gala special event over two captivating programs, each a testament to the choreographers and dancers who transform music into visual poetry. 
The student and pre-professional Spring Showcases present a curated celebration of Westside Ballet's storied past, vibrant present, and promising future, introducing the next generation of ballet stars, performing new works alongside revered classics. Of note is the prodigious <a href="https://www.dancemagazine.com/2024-yagp-winners-announced-capping-25th-anniversary-celebration/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Spencer Collins </a>(11), a recent YAGP double winner, performing Flames of Paris.
The weekend will culminate in a special Saturday evening Gala event on May 18th, honoring the remarkable career of legendary ballerina Patricia Neary, showcasing the iconic works she brought to life with the New York City Ballet, featuring performances by stars from the American Ballet Theatre's principal dancers Isabella Boylston and James Whiteside, performing the timeless Black Swan pas de deux by Marius Petipa. Additionally, guest artists Andrea Laššáková and Adrian Blake Mitchell will present excerpts from George Balanchine's Concerto Barocco, Who Cares?, and the contemporary masterpiece Agon, set to Stravinsky's evocative score. The stage will also welcome alumni stars Lucia Connolly, Lyrica Woodruff, and Joy Womack in a series of breathtaking performances, including Yuri Possokhov's Bells
pas de deux, Balanchine's fiery Tarantella, and Ben Stevenson O.B.E.'s Prelude pas de deux, accompanied by Rachmaninov's live piano score.
As the nonprofit performance company pays homage to the past, it also looks forward to nurturing the next wave of ballet talent. Westside Ballet remains committed to its mission of providing exceptional dance education and enriching the cultural landscape of the SoCal community.
