The school's curriculum seeks to provide a balanced education, supporting students' strengths and unique potentials to become free-thinking individuals. Along with standard subject areas, the school integrates art, poetry, music, movement and drama into the curriculum, with specialty instructors providing lessons in areas such as foreign languages and hand crafts.</p> <p>Middle schoolers receive more in-depth instruction in specific areas of science, math, literature and history. Parents of students at Waldorf can participate at the school through volunteering and through the parent community council, which acts to raise funds, promote activities and serve as a forum with the school's leadership. Located where Mount Holyoke meets the very Western end of Via de las Olas, this small and often under-populated park…More overlooks Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean, with the Santa Monica Pier to the south and Malibu, framed by the Santa Monica Mountains, to the north.</p> <p>Many who come here like to walk or jog along the circumference path, eat lunch and/or take in the view from one of four benches, walk their dogs and even fly model airplanes or kites. There are municipal garbage cans at this site to dispose of food waste.</p> <p>Three elegant pastel benches and a functional green bench under a shady tree offer romantic views of the sunset. There is also a small grassy area at the heart of the park that is not ideal for picnics but will work. The park's eastern end is bordered by the gate of a residence. </p> <p>One of the pastel benches facing the Pacific is dedicated to Dino A. De Laurentiis. The bench was installed in honor of the late grandson of late producer Dino De Laurentiis. It was placed one year after grandson Dino's death on November 3, 2004.</p> <p>Dino A., who was 31 when he passed away from melanoma, lived on Mount Holyoke with his wife, Talley. The bench has been erected at what was their favorite spot. The simple plaque, which bears the younger Dino's name and dates, and the slogan "The Sun Never Sets on Love" inscribed, also includes the Italian phrase 'Tanti Baci,' meaning lots of kisses. </p>

Temescal Gateway Park offers many recreational opportunities and acts as a gateway to Topanga State Park, Will Rogers…More State Historic Park, and the 20,000-acre "Big Wild" of the Santa Monica Mountains. The 141 acres of Temescal Gateway Park include easy-to-moderate trails for hiking, picnic tables, grassy areas, restrooms, a camp store, meeting rooms, an auditorium and classrooms. Other amenities and programs at the park include the Earth Adventure Camp for children, the Temescal Canyon Conference and Retreat Center and the Temescal Dining Hall for events. The park and facilities can be reserved for weddings and other events. Dogs must be leashed within the park. Special events and hikes are held at the park throughout the year.</p> <p>Development of the park began as early as 1922, when Reverend Dr. Charles Holmes Scott developed the land for the Methodist Church as a West Coast center for the Chautauqua movement. In 1943, the Presbyterian Synod purchased the property for private retreats. The Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy purchased the property in 1994 to preserve the park as a public space. Temescal Gateway Park is managed by the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority, a local government and public entity established in 1985. The MRCA provides ranger services, fire prevention, scientific expertise and educational and youth leadership programs.</p>
