Westside Waldorf School offers private education for preschoolers through eighth-graders. The nonprofit organization started in Santa Monica to provide early childhood education, and has expanded over the years, adding middle-school grades in 2002.

The McComb Campus here in Pacific Palisades has all grade levels, including a parent-toddler program, while an early childhood center remains in Santa Monica. The school's curriculum seeks to provide a balanced education, supporting students' strengths and unique potentials to become free-thinking individuals. Along with standard subject areas, the school integrates art, poetry, music, movement and drama into the curriculum, with specialty instructors providing lessons in areas such as foreign languages and hand crafts.

Middle schoolers receive more in-depth instruction in specific areas of science, math, literature and history. Parents of students at Waldorf can participate at the school through volunteering and through the parent community council, which acts to raise funds, promote activities and serve as a forum with the school's leadership. Waldorf education is an interdisciplinary educational philosophy developed by Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Special training is required in order to become a Waldorf teacher.
