Via de Las Olas Bluffs Park

Flag as Inappropriate

Located where Mount Holyoke meets the very Western end of Via de las Olas, this small and often under-populated park overlooks Pacific Coast Highway and the Pacific Ocean, with the Santa Monica Pier to the south and Malibu, framed by the Santa Monica Mountains, to the north.

Many who come here like to walk or jog along the circumference path, eat lunch and/or take in the view from one of four benches, walk their dogs and even fly model airplanes or kites. There are municipal garbage cans at this site to dispose of food waste.

Three elegant pastel benches and a functional green bench under a shady tree offer romantic views of the sunset. There is also a small grassy area at the heart of the park that is not ideal for picnics but will work. The park's eastern end is bordered by the gate of a residence.

One of the pastel benches facing the Pacific is dedicated to Dino A. De Laurentiis. The bench was installed in honor of the late grandson of late producer Dino De Laurentiis. It was placed one year after grandson Dino's death on November 3, 2004.

Dino A., who was 31 when he passed away from melanoma, lived on Mount Holyoke with his wife, Talley. The bench has been erected at what was their favorite spot. The simple plaque, which bears the younger Dino's name and dates, and the slogan "The Sun Never Sets on Love" inscribed, also includes the Italian phrase 'Tanti Baci,' meaning lots of kisses.
