Mission Renaissance is a Southern California-based organization offering instruction in visual art to children and adults. Dee Travis is the program director for children here, while Karen Trueblood heads the adult program. They and other professional instructors teach proven techniques developed by Larry Gluck to create works of art using pencil, pastels, watercolors and oils. All students receive one-on-one instruction, with a strict 6:1 student to teacher ratio in every class. All classes are ongoing, with students growing at their own pace. The spacious studio has plenty of easels set up and various objects as models. Most students here come from Pacific Palisades, with some traveling from Brentwood and Malibu. Children can start as young as four years old, with 90-minute classes. Teens' classes are two hours and adult classes are three. Student work is often shown publicly in community locations, including the Pacific Palisades Library and The Pantry restaurant on Swarthmore. Birthday parties and other events can be arranged with the studio.
