The Bel-Air Bay Club is a private, members-only club on the edge of the Pacific Ocean. The club was built in 1927 by Alphonzo Bell, one of the primary developers of Los Angeles. The club is divided into the Upper Clubhouse on the bluffs above the beach and the Lower Clubhouse on the beach. Families and groups gather here for social occasions and activities such as paddle tennis, volleyball, beach activities and bridge. The Bel-Air Bay Club also offers an exclusive setting for weddings, anniversaries, bar and bat mitzvahs, parties, conferences, retreats, private concerts, theatrical events, corporate functions and society galas.
