Chamber Names The Yogurt Shoppe Best New Business of 2012

The Pacific Palisades business aims to make an impact in the community through continued fundraising efforts, all while serving up some tasty frozen yogurt among a variety of toppings.

Since it's , , located at 873 Swarthmore Ave., is not only a new destination to take your sweet tooth in Pacific Palisades, but it's also getting involved in the community. Given its impact, the recently named it the Best New Business of 2012.

Owner Kevin Sabin said last week they are thrilled with the award. The business spent its first year in the Village , youth sports teams, the . They hold Happy Hour fundraisers throughout the year, during which a percentage of sales go to a local organization, most recently the local scouting organizations.

In 2011, the shop reportedly donated a total of $9,139.27 by way of Happy Hour alone.

According to Chamber Executive Director Arnie Wishnick, the criteria for any business to win the Best New Business Award is the recipient must be a new, stable business that is needed in the community; been in business at least one year and not more that three years; and be actively involved in the Chamber and the community.

"From the day they opened they have made a tremendous impact," Wisnick said, adding they've gotten involved and cared. "They did everything right."
