Heal the Bay Coastal Cleanup Day This Saturday

It's the annual clean up event. Head out on foot, or sign up for kayak cleanup. Lots of great opportunities in Santa Monica and fun events at the pier and aquarium.

Say "thank you" to your beloved beaches and waterways on the last day of summer, this Saturday, Sept. 21 from 9 a.m. to noon as part of Heal the Bay’s annual Coastal Cleanup Day.

Heal the Bay coordinates more than 50 cleanup locations across Los Angeles County, so it's easy to find a park, river, creek or beach that needs some TLC near you. And if you SCUBA, SUP or kayak, check out these sites sites just for you!

In Santa Monica there will be a slew of free, family-friendly activities, thanks to Heal the Bay’s coming together LandShark Lager.

The activities will take place near the cleanup site just north of the Santa Monica PIer at Tower 1550 and include: 

•   Yoga class led by Naam Yoga at 8:30 a.m. (BYO mat)

•   Standup Paddleboard clinic 11 a.m.- 2 p.m.

•   Dory races at 12:15 p.m.

•   Beginning at 12:30 p.m., cleanup volunteers can gain free admission to Heal the Bay's Santa Monica Pier Aquarium until 5 p.m.

Prize drawing and food/drink specials at Rusty's Surf Ranch at 3 p.m. (Volunteers are eligible to win one of three standup paddleboards valued at $1600 throughout the day!)
