St Matthew's Thrift Shop on TV

A TV crew visited the Thrift Shop to film for an episode of a show on City TV, the government community cable channel for Santa Monica. The show, called “Be Green,” encourages people to make green and eco-friendly choices and highlights ways to achieve that in the local community. St Matthew’s Thrift Shop is all about recycling and was therefore a perfect choice for a spot on the show.

Greg, the show’s great upbeat host, interviewed Tracy who told him all about the shop and what we do to be green, like recycling everything we can, including price tags. With the camera rolling, Greg was given a tour of the shop by Diane and then tried on some clothes, including a fluffy leopard-print robe and a cool leather jacket. He left the shop happy after purchasing a Jane Fonda workout vinyl record from cashiers Jane and Marybeth.

The show, which has some great footage of the shop and our merchandise, is being aired on Santa Monica City TV and will hopefully soon be available as a podcast on the website: http://www.smgov.net/departments/citytv/. It is also available on YouTube (search YouTube for Be Green St Matthew’s Thrift Shop).
