World-Renowned Polo Players Head to the Palisades

The Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic will be held on Sunday at Will Rogers State Historic Park in Pacific Palisades.

Imagine women in fancy hats and men in suave suits gathering on a beautiful lawn on a Sunday afternoon, sipping glasses of champagne. On Oct. 9, you can press pause on that day dream and head to the Second Annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at .

The day will feature world-renowned polo players going head to head on the grounds of Will Rogers' former home. The Hollywood celebrity used to play polo and worked to popularize the sport in the 1920s, according to the official site of the Will Rogers Polo Club. In an article written on the polo club's site, the likes of Walt Disney, Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy played practice games at Rogers' ranch.

This Sunday's guests are encouraged to dress with the era of the 1920s and 1930s in mind, when the sport was in its heyday, according to the event website. But, while the match will be reminiscent of days gone by, there will be a modern twist: Gourmet food trucks will be serving up their best dishes throughout the afternoon. And, of course, there will be Veuve Clicquot champagne to refresh your palate.
