Westside Warriors Work Overtime for Silver Cup

Palisadian James Mann scores the game-winner in the LA Lacrosse League's U15 final.

Palisadian James Mann, an eighth-grader at St. Matthew's Parish School, scored the winning goal in overtime to lift the Westside Warriors to a 10-9 victory over the Pasadena Tribe in the 2011 Los Angeles Lacrosse League U15 Silver Cup Championships last Sunday at Ribet Academy in Los Angeles.

It is the first time in the league's 12-year history that the Warriors won the U15 title.

Nate Galper, an eighth-grader at Paul Revere Middle School, scored four goals for the Warriors while fellow Palisadian Alec Simpson led the team in ground balls in the final game.

In other LA Lacrosse League Silver Cup finals, the West Champion Cannons lost to the East Champion Downey Mini Vikes 12-7 in the U9 division; the West Champion Lizards lost to the East Champion Tribe 9-5 in the U11 division; and the Tribe beat the Lizards 12-8 in the U13 division.
