Preserving Hollywood History With Polo in the Park

A portion of the proceeds from the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, held on Oct. 9, benefited Will Rogers State Historic Park in Pacific Palisades.

The stars came out to support Hollywood history on Oct. 9 for the second annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at in Pacific Palisades.

Hollywood's hottest, from Jeremy Piven, to Zoe Saladana and Selma Blair, all walked the red carpet to watch world-renowned polo players go head to head on the grounds of Will Rogers' former home.

Will Rogers used to play polo and worked to popularize the sport in the 1920s, according to the official site of the Will Rogers Polo Club. In an article written on the polo club's site, the likes of Walt Disney, Clark Gable and Spencer Tracy played practice games at Rogers' ranch.

The polo event was also held as a preservation effort for Will Rogers State Historic Park. Many of the stars told Patch that the park was particularly important to them because it's a place they have shared with family and friends.
