Kornfeind Nets Top Volleyball Honor

The Palisades High junior is chosen City Section Player of the Year.

Anyone who tried to defend Molly Kornfeind this season would find it no shock that she has been selected the City Section Division II Player of the Year for the second straight time.

The junior hitter was one of three Dolphins to make the first team, along with senior setter Meghan Middleton and junior hitter Shanna Scott. Senior libero Maddie Hausberg was a second team selection and Coach Chris Forrest was named Division II Coach of the Year after leading Palisades to its fourth section title in five years.

Kornfeind pounded a match-high 12 kills to go along with 20 digs and two aces in the Dolphins' 25-20, 25-11, 25-17 sweep of Taft in the finals, Middleton added 27 assists and Hausberg had seven digs. Scott had seven kills against Taft and contributed 11 kills, 17 digs and two aces against La Salle in the opening round of the Southern California Regional playoffs.
