Did California Deserve Its Failing Grade In Small Business Friendliness?

California received a failing grade in small business friendliness, according to a survey by Thumbtack.

California has been in the bottom of the rankings every year of the survey. Rhode Island and Illinois also received failing grades. Connecticut and New Jersey received D grades.

The survey looked at several issues, including:

  • Business-friendly licensing regulations
  • Ease of filing taxes
  • Tax rates
  • Government-sponsored training programs
Utah, Idaho, Texas, Virginia and Louisiana received the highest rating for small business friendliness.
