Palisades Teacher Creates Math App

The app, called "Math Evolve," is a way for kids to use the iPad and iPhone to practice multiplication, division, addition and subtraction.

After teaching fourth and sixth grade for a few years, teacher Adam Coccari wanted to figure out how to effectively use interactive media as a tool in the classroom. So, he teamed up with artist Clinton Bopp to develop games that are not only educational, but fun!

Coccari created an app called "Math Evolve," a game that helps kids practice math. And it has been received quite well! The Pali-inspired app won two awards in the 2011 Best App Ever Awards. The app took second place for the Best Educational Game of 2011 and second for the Best Middle School App of 2011.

"The inspiration to make Math Evolve grew out of my experiences as a teacher, struggling to get kids excited about math and looking for creative ways to make math practice fun," said Coccari in a press release.
