Members of the community can now connect to Palisades Charter High School's news, including live-streamed events, through the student-run video website Pali Production. It launched earlier this month.
Video production teacher Sean Passan told Patch they have a studio show, live streams (including sports events), taped school and community events and even academic content for students to explore on the site. Smartphone users will be able to follow the basketball game and upcoming graduations live as well as browse other on-demand video.
Pali Production even launched a sister site directed more for Spanish speaking parents of Pali High students to help them feel more involved at school.
"We have a variety of videos for different audiences but all have the ultimate goal of improving a sense of community among the students, faculty and the Palisades," Passan said.
Passan's students came to him four years ago and asked to start a studio production course, and early February has been the culmination of many years hard work to get the website up and running. Passan said he does Pali Production for free during his conference period and they raise money where they an because we don't have a budget.
"The booster club has been a huge support to us and without them we definitely wouldn't be able to exist," Passan added. "I have an extremely motivated group of students."
Pali Production recorded the last home boys' basketball game and it should be posted soon, and they will have archives loaded from past Pali High and Paul Revere Charter Middle School graduations. The current video on the homapge features a student advertising the Ralph's Rewards Program's community outreach program, which ultimately benefits Pali High.
