Calvary Christian School Plans Golf Fundraiser

The Pacific Palisades school is hoping the event will raise funds for a new building.

will hold its 17th annual Golf and Tennis Tournament Oct. 10 at MountainGate Country Club to raise funds for a new Arts and Technology Center.

“The tournament has historically benefited students who needed scholarships to go to the school, but this year the funds will go to the new Arts and Technology Center that’s being constructed on campus right now,” said Laura Chung, who is co-chairing this year’s tournament with Janice Larson.

Calvary Christian School began as a small preschool in 1963 and over the years has grown into the second largest private school on the Westside of Los Angeles. Located at 701 Palisades Drive, the school offers a high school preparatory education for preschool through eighth grade students on a seven-acre campus in the heart of Pacific Palisades.

The school’s new Arts and Technology Center will feature a new library and technology area, a performing arts studio and a fine arts center. The projected completion of the building is September 2012.

About 120 people participated in last year’s tournament, and Chung is hoping to have more than 130 participants this year.

“The school and the whole community are coming together so we can build this new building,” Chung said.
