Location For Second LADWP Station to be Discussed at Town Hall Meeting

The meeting will be held Wednesday at Marquez Charter Elementary School.

The Pacific Palisades Community Council, the Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power will come together for a town hall meeting with the community Wednesday to discuss a second power distribution station in Pacific Palisades.

According to the LADWP, due to increased power requirements in the community, a second power station is needed.

Pacific Palisades Community Council President Janet Turner told Patch LADWP is considering two locations. One location is behind , which would mean LADWP would have to buy state park land. The second location is on Marquez Avenue, next to .

"LADWP will have experts to discuss the many aspects of this plan, and they are eager to get feedback from the community," said Turner in an email to the Palisades community. "Now is the time to make your voice heard."

According to Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association Vice President Haldis Toppel, a local attorney who lives on Marquez has distributed a petition.

"While MKPOA is not the author of the petition, we are listening to our residents and are in support of finding an alternative site for the much needed power distribution station," said Toppel in an email to the Marquez Knolls residents.

Details for the town hall meeting are as follows:

  • Where: Marquez Charter Elementary School (Auditorium), 16821 Marquez Ave.
  • When: Feb. 29, 6-8 p.m.

Attendance is encouraged by both community leaders and LADWP.

“We definitely want as many folks as possible at this preliminary meeting regarding the need for a new electrical distribution station in ... Pacific Palisades, " said Victoria Cross, LADWP Government and Neighborhood Relations Liaison. "Educating the public about our projects is one of LADWP’s biggest challenges and we look forward to hearing questions and ideas from the community.”
