Garcetti Set To Meet with Fellow Mayors at White House

The mayor will join other newly elected mayors in a meeting with the president to discuss job creation.

Mayor Eric Garcetti is scheduled to travel to Washington, D.C., Thursday to join other newly elected mayors for a Friday meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss job creation.

Garcetti, New York Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio, Detroit Mayor-elect Mike Duggan and thirteen others are expected to gather at the White House on Friday to discuss "policies that lead to high-paying, high-skill jobs in their communities," according to a White House release.

"Mayors understand that smart investments in things like American manufacturing and infrastructure help provide good jobs for middle class families while providing a foundation for long-term economic success," according to the release.

"I look forward to working closely with Mayors from across the country on how we can share ideas to create jobs and solve problems in our cities, and how we can collectively make a difference on the national level," Garcetti said.
