Even the Mayor Gets Jury Duty: Garcetti Reports for Duty
The Los Angeles mayor is waiting to see if he will be put into a jury pool or assigned to a case.

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti reported for jury duty this morning.
The mayor arrived at the downtown Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center at around 9:15 a.m. and is waiting to see if he will be put into a pool or assigned to a case, according to Garcetti spokesman Yusef Robb.
Garcetti is accompanied by his mayoral staff and if an emergency were to arise, they would be able to "go get him," said Robb.
Former Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was a potential juror on a murder trial in 2005, but was dismissed after three days of reporting for jury duty.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel reported for and was dismissed from jury duty in February. In 2007, New York Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg was on the short list to be a juror on an asbestos case, but was later dismissed.
