CRAAP Endorses Mike Bonin for City Council

Local organization against airport pollution is backing Mike Bonin for Los Angeles 11th District Council seat in March 2013.

Concerned Residents Against Airport Pollution is endorsing Mike Bonin to replace City Councilman Bill Rosendahl in the 11th district.

"Mike Bonin has been aware of the community concerns that surround Santa Monica Airport (SMO), and he has proactively helped to have these concerns heard. Now that the time is ripe for Bonin to move into the leadership role at City Hall,” CRAAP Director Martin Rubin said in a statement.

The organization lists Bonin’s experience at the federal level of government, when he served for Congresswoman Jane Harman, as well as his involvement in the future plans for Los Angeles International Airport, as a distinguishing factor in choosing Bonin.

“Mike Bonin has pledged to work with constituents, local, state, and Federal officials to realize that the land that is now Santa Monica Airport, can better serve the public in a much more environmentally friendly, as well as economical friendly way, if the airport were to close when the contractual agreement between the Federal Aviation Administration and the City of Santa Monica expires in 2015," Rubin said in a statement.

MIKE BONIN - THE BEST PERSON FOR THE JOB OF CITY COUNCILMAN - David, "I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". (Words usually attributed to Voltaire, but first said by Evelyn Beatrice Hall in 1906 to summarize Voltaire's attitude). - You have every right to express your opinions and beliefs and I respect that right. - Regarding them, you have chosen to speak for God in telling us what His will is - in contradiction to my own representations of it. In this sense we are both declaring ourselves to be His prophets, even though no more than one of our conflicting declarations could possibly be inspired by Him. - This has happened many times in the Bible; a real prophet of Jehovah God and a false prophet both stating opposing predictions and representing them as being from God. In such instances God Himself usually makes clear who is truly representing Him and who is lying. And so I will respond to you with the words of David - King of Israel : - "MAY JEHOVAH GOD JUDGE BETWEEN ME AND THEE… (1 Samuel 24:12 ) - Continued -

Continued 2 - "MAY JEHOVAH GOD JUDGE BETWEEN ME AND THEE… (1 Samuel 24:12 ) - Now that the matter has been submitted to a higher court, let's take a moment to consider your statements. - As for your claim that God wishes for the rich to move in to Venice and run the poor out ("gentrification"), I refer you to the statements of God found in the Bible which I have quoted in my previous PATCH article entitled "What Does The Bible Have To Say About Homelessness" ( http://venice.patch.com/blog_posts/what-does-the-bible-have-to-say-about-homelessness ). In it you will find that - according to the Bible - God does not wish for the rich and powerful to disregard the plight of the poor in their midst, to criminalize them, to steal their possessions, to oppress them, to persecute them or to drive them from the land. So, in this instance, it is your word against the Bible's. I will leave it to the individual reader to decide which is true. - You say that in this process of gentrification "the needy will indeed be provided for", but this is a fairly transparent lie. Quite the opposite from providing for the poor and homeless, the gentrifiers have conducted a many-year's-long, heartless, ruthless and cruel campaign of harassment, persecution, criminalization, dehumanization, vilification and extermination against the poor and needy here in Venice. As I said, a transparent lie which no one believes, least of all you. - Continued -

Continued 3 - You say that "the criminals will be brought to justice", to which I reply with the words of Jesus found at Matthew 12:37 : - "…BY YOUR OWN WORDS YOU WILL BE CONDEMNED". - The gentrifiers, in their crazed lust for wealth and power in Venice, have committed untold crimes against the defenseless, impoverished and downtrodden living on our streets and sleeping in our alleys, and I assure YOU that they most certainly WILL be brought to justice for it…God's eternal justice. - You accuse me of robbing the needy - an utterly baseless claim for which you have neither evidence nor proof - when in fact it is you and your ilk who have done and continue to do exactly that. Let me ask you one question - do you imagine that you can deceive God Himself with such a lie? - You tell me that my day of judgement is coming, and indeed it is - as is yours. I am thankful to Jesus of Nazareth, the anointed savior of mankind, that he has interceded on my behalf and rescued me from the judgement unto condemnation that my own sins deserve. Something tells me that you cannot say the same thing, and that if you would dare to you would be lying. - As I said - may Jehovah God judge between me and thee…and I sure don't want to be in the same building as you when the lightning begins to strike.
