Newly installed CD 11 Councilman Mike Bonin headed to his first City Council meeting in downtown Los Angeles on public transport from his Mar Vista home early Tuesday morning.

Bonin hopped on the 733 bus at the corner of Venice Boulevard and Walgrove Avenue, before hopping on the Expo Line in Culver City. Bonin posted on his Facebook page early Monday morning:

Heading to my first council meeting via mass transit. Picking up the 733 Rapid and then checking out how the Expo Line is doing. LA's transit future is here. Go Metro!

After getting off the train he posted again:

After taking the Rapid 733 and @ExpoLine, I decided to walk the final leg.

Part of the reason Bonin took public transit today was to discuss transportation and traffic issues with fellow commuter en route to downtown.

Arriving at City Hall, Bonin posted:

City Hall is a beautiful temple of democracy. I love the grand steps on Spring Street. We should open it to the public!
