Bill Rosendahl Comes Out of the (Cannabis) Closet

The Westside city councilman goes into detail of his medical marijuana use on Huffington Post Live.

In case you missed his announcement earlier in May, Los Angeles' outgoing District 11 City Councilman Bill Rosendahl's cancer is in remission, and he spoke at length about it on Huffington Post Live on Wednesday.

Watch the full 30-minute interview with Jacob Soboroff here. It's claimed Rosendahl is the first sitting elected official to outline his marijuana use while in office.

"I knew it gave you a high," he said. "But to get the physical changes in your body. First I could turn to my right. Then I could turn to my left. Then I could get up."

In his May 21 Huffington Post blog post, Rosendahl calls on constituents to ask their congressional representatives to make marijuana a Schedule 2 drug and reduce the severity of criminal punishments for marijuana possession.

He further calls on other medical marijuana patients to "come out" of the pot closet to advocate for their rights, and the medical rights of others.
