Big Blue Bus Continues Route Detour Because of Marquez Avenue Street Resurfacing Monday

Officials said the detour will continue through the weekend as not to disrupt riders between projects.

The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus Route 9 will continue to miss 11 inbound stops around Sunset Boulevard and West Marquez Avenue because of road work, officials said.

The Los Angeles Services will begin the resurfacing of Marquez Avenue starting on Dec. 23 and and expected to last through Dec. 27. Signs will be posted to inform residents of street parking restrictions on Marquez Avenue.

"We are just going to stay on detour over the weekend so that we do not disrupt riders between projects with too many changes," Big Blue Bus spokeswoman Suja Lowenthal said.

The missed stops are:

  • Sunset and Marquez
  • Sunset Salerno
  • Sunset and Arno
  • Sunset and Livorno
  • Sunset and Marquez East/Baylor
  • Sunset and Las Casas
  • Sunset and Bienvenida
  • Sunset and Northfield
  • Sunset and Muskingum
  • Sunset and El Medio
  • Sunset and Temescal Canyon
All passengers who wish to exit west of Temescal on Sunset may ride around and exit on the eastbound side of Sunset.
