Stranded Hiker Air-Lifted From Will Rogers State Park

Firefighter paramedic drops in from helicopter to rescue woman stranded near Inspiration Loop and Rustic Canyon Trail.

A 40-year-old woman stranded while hiking in some heavy brush Friday afternoon at was air-lifted to safety Friday, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. She was uninjured.

According to , a call came in at approximately 3:20 p.m. seeking help for a stranded hiker between Inspiration Loop and Rustic Canyon Trail of the park, near the polo grounds.

The helicopter's pilot used the polo field as a landing zone, said LAFD spokesman Erik Scott.

"For unknown reasons she was unable to hike out of the thick brush," Scott said. "She was about a quarter mile into it. We lowered a firefighter paramedic from the helicopter to assess her medical needs. They reiterated she was uninjured but unable to hike out."
