Rescuers Locate, Aid Injured Hiker

A helicopter rescue was planned to airlift the man to safety.

Emergency rescue personnel Monday aided a hiker who went missing in the Santa Monica mountains.

The Los Angeles Fire Department and park rangers began an air and ground search for the adult male hiker after receiving a call at about 3:30 p.m., according to Brian Humphrey of the LAFD. The man's female companion told authorities he went missing between Rustic Canyon Trail and Sullivan Fire Road.

By 4:25 p.m., the man had been found and a helicopter rescue was being planned.
