The family of Caroline Karimi, an 18-year-old Westside resident and a volunteer at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, is seeking the help of the Los Angeles Police Department and the public in trying to find her.

Karimi graduated 25th in her class at Palisades Charter High School and was preparing for college in the Bay area, reports KCAL9.

Karimi was last seen and heard by her family around 7 a.m. Monday morning at her home on the 2900 block of Queensbury Drive, near the Century City area of West Los Angeles, according to her father, Ardeshir. Her family went to the police after it was found out that she didn't show up for work.

Police said Karimi does not have a history of going missing, and that she is supposed to be on a flight to Boston Wednesday morning.

A surveillance video shows Karimi leaving a West L.A. Vons Supermarket after she went to the deli to get a sandwich and get gas before her trip, reports KTLA.

Here is Karimi's description from the LAPD, as well as how to help:

Karimi is described as an 18-year-old white female with brown hair and green eyes.  She stands 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. She has a thin build and fair complexion. Karimi was last seen wearing a dark-blue hospital shirt, white pants and orange and blue shoes. Karimi was driving a 2007 green Toyota Prius with California license plate #5YVV475.

If you have seen, or have any information regarding the whereabouts of Caroline Karimi, please contact the Los Angeles Police Department, Missing Persons Unit, Detective Alma Mercado at  (213) 996-1800.  During non-business hours or on weekends, calls should be directed to  1-877-LAPD-24-7.   Anyone wishing to remain anonymous should call Crime Stoppers at  1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).  Tipsters may also contact Crime Stoppers by texting to phone
number 274637 (C-R-I-M-E-S on most keypads) with a cell phone.  All text messages should  begin with the letters “LAPD.” Tipsters may also go to LAPDOnline.org, click on "web tips" and follow the prompts.

Editor's note: This post has been changed. Caroline Karimi's father confirmed that Caroline has been missing since Monday morning, and that her car is a 2007 Prius, not a 1997 Prius, as was stated earlier.
