Pole Fire Knocks Out Power Near El Medio Avenue

Approximately 300 customers in Pacific Palisades were affected and power was restored by 10:30 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Residents in the El Medio Avenue and El Medio Bluffs area lost power for about two hours Tuesday morning due to a pole fire nearby on Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power.

Spokeswoman Victoria Cross said they had to shut down power to approximately 300 customers while the Los Angeles Fire Department extinguished the fire and make repairs. Power was restored at approximately 10:30 a.m. and they are unsure of the cause of the fire.

LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said a first reported call about the fire came in at approximately 6:04 a.m. to the Los Angeles police, stating the fire was near Almar Avenue and Sunset Boulevard, but then caller hung up.

Palisades Patrol dispatcher Jamie Menzies said the first call about the poll fire came in at about 8:40 a.m. and the did extra patrol of the El Medio area during the outage.
