Pacific Palisades Police Blotter: Would-Be Burglars Scared Away by Radio

In this week's crime report, police say would-be burglars may have been scared away when a homeowner's daughter turned on the radio.

The following crimes were reported between Oct. 1-Oct. 8. The information was provided by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Burglary

16700 block of Bollinger Dr.

  • When: Oct. 3 between 2:45 p.m. and 3:40 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s home through an unlocked window. The suspect took a check from the home.

600 block of Via De La Paz

  • When: Oct. 7 between 10 a.m. and 9:20 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect removed glass panes from a door on the victim’s home to enter. The suspect took a fire safe.

17400 block of Tramonto Dr.

  • When: Oct. 8 at 10:55 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s home through unlocked French doors. The victim’s daughter was inside the home when the suspect entered. She then turned on a radio after locking herself in her bedroom. The suspect fled the home without taking any property, possibly after hearing the radio turn on.

Burglary/Theft From Vehicle

14800 block of Channel Ln.

  • When: Sept. 11 between 12:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. 
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took a laptop computer, clothing, sunglasses and eyeglasses.

16800 block of Bollinger Dr.

  • When: Between Oct. 4 at 6 p.m. and Oct. 6 at 9 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took money and CDs.


Other Crimes

900 block of Hartzell St.

  • When: Between Sept. 7 at 10:30 p.m. and Sept. 25 at 2 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s home, possibly as an invited guest, and took jewelry.

1400 block of Allenford Ave.

  • When: Oct. 5 between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect took a cellphone from the victim’s backpack while it was left unattended.
