Pacific Palisades Police Blotter: A Rash of Burglaries and Thefts

Items taken last week included food service trays, alcoholic beverages, an emergency kit, guitar case and a cake.

Here are the crimes reported in Pacific Palisades from July 11-17. This information is provided by the Los Angeles Police Department.

Burglary

90 block of Ocean Way

  • When: Between July 12 at 9 a.m. and July 16 at 9 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect used a house key hidden under a flower pot to unlock and enter the victim’s home. The suspect took money, bicycles, a camera, a laptop computer and the house key.

100 block of Entrada Dr.

  • When: Between July 13 at 11 p.m. and July 14 at 4:42 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect slipped open a locked window to enter the victim’s business. The suspect took alcoholic beverages.

  • When: Between July 13 at 11 p.m. and July 14 at 7 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect pried open a window on the victim’s business to enter and took fruit and food service trays.

15200 block of Earlham St.

  • When: July 16 at 4 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect forced open a door to enter victim’s home, however it is unknown if any property was stolen.

Burglary/Theft From Vehicle

Senior Lead Officer Michael Moore announced the "Lock It, Hide It, Keep It" campaign at the July 14 Community Council meeting. It was a program that was intended to prevent theft from motor vehicles. Read more on his description of the program here.

100 block of Entrada Dr.

  • When: Between July 13 at 6:30 p.m. and July 14 at 10:30 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect cut open the convertible top of the victim’s vehicle but did not take any property.

14800 block of Pacific Coast Hwy.

  • When: July 13 between 2:38 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s vehicle and took a backpack, clothing and a phone charger.

300 block of E. Rustic Rd.

  • When: Between July 13 at 9 p.m. and July 14 at 9 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took $10 in coins.

100 block of Entrada Dr.

  • When: Between July 13 at 5 p.m. and July 14 at 6:45 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took an emergency kit, money, sunglasses and a cake.

500 block of E. Rustic Dr.

  • When: July 13 at 9 p.m. and July 14 at 8 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and took a briefcase, laptop computer and iPod Touch.

100 block of Entrada Dr.

  • When: Between July 13 at 9:15 p.m. and July 14 at 8 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect cut the convertible top of the victim’s vehicle and took $2 in coins.

100 block of Entrada Dr.

  • When: Between July 13 at 12 p.m. and July 14 at 6 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect took the victim’s sunglasses and motorcycle lock from the motorcycle saddle bags.

500 block of W. Rustic Rd.

  • When: Between July 13 at 6 p.m. and July 14 at 6 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered and searched the victim’s unlocked vehicle but did not take any property.

300 block of Mesa Rd.

  • When: Between July 14 at 10 a.m. and July 17 at 7 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect smashed a window on the victim’s vehicle and took a guitar case.

Temescal Canyon Rd. and Sunset Blvd.

  • When: July 17 between 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect smashed a window on the victim’s vehicle and took a flashlight, binoculars, candy and money.

300 block of Mesa Rd.

  • When: July 17 at 4:45 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspects smashed a window on the victim’s vehicle and took a shoulder bag, agenda book, brief case and laptop computer. The first suspect was described as a 40- to 50-year-old man, who was heavyset and smoking a cigar. The second suspect was described as a 20- to 30-year-old man who was tall and thin. A red two-door Toyota was present at the scene.

Stolen Vehicles

500 block of W. Rustic Rd.

  • When: July 13 at 8 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect took the victim’s motorcycle from a driveway and moved it approximately one block from the victim’s home.

Vandalism

1200 block of Monument St.

  • When: June 16 at 8 p.m. and June 17 at 12 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect scratched the side of the victim’s vehicle.

17900 block of Pacific Coast Hwy.

  • When: July 10 between 2:34 p.m. and 3:15 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect slashed the tires on a city parking enforcement vehicle.

400 block of Mesa Rd.

  • When: Between July 12 at 7 p.m. and July 13 6 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect damaged the victim’s vinyl fence and several plants.

300 block of Rustic Rd.

  • When: July 13 at 9 p.m. and July 14 at 7:15 a.m.
  • What happened: The suspect slashed the convertible top of the victim’s vehicle.

100 Entrada Dr.

  • When: July 16 at 6:40 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect threw a rock through the rear window of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect was described as a man in his 50s with black hair and brown eyes, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing about 200 pounds.

Arrest/Citations

Sunset Blvd. and Swarthmore Ave.

  • When: July 13 at 1:10 a.m.
  • What happened: A 33-year-old male was arrested on suspicion of Grand Theft after allegedly trying to sell a stolen computer in his possession. 

Other Crimes

900 block of Kagawa St.

  • When: July 13 between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect entered the victim’s backyard and took the swimming pool pump motor.

Swarthmore Ave. and Sunset Blvd.

  • When: July 10 at 12:30 p.m.
  • What happened: The suspect took the victim’s cellphone from a table.
