Motorcyclist Transported Following Accident at PCH/Chautauqua

Motorcycle operator reportedly attempts maneuvering around vehicles at Pacific Palisades intersection and strikes pole, hitting other vehicles.

A motorcyclist has been transported to the hospital following an accident Friday morning on northbound Pacific Coast Highway at Chautauqua Boulevard in Pacific Palisades. Traffic is still backed up as of noontime.

According to Palisades Patrol Dispatcher Denise Montelongo, a motorcyclist was traveling on the northbound PCH near the 15000 block intersection when vehicles came to a halt at the light. The operator attempted to maneuver around vehicles and, in the process, hit a pole and flew off the bike, hitting other vehicles.

Due to critical injuries, the motorcyclist was transported to the UCLA Medical Center.

The incident was reported at 11:02 a.m. and the Los Angeles Fire Department cleared the scene at 11:20 a.m., Montelongo said. The Los Angeles Police Department remains on scene to direct traffic.
