Efforts to lift sections of a collapsed hangar off a plane will get underway at Santa Monica Airport later this morning. A crane will be used to lift the rubble off the twin-engine Cessna Citation jet, which veered off the runway when it landed early yesterday evening and slammed into the hangar.
The impact triggered an explosive fire that spread to two other hangars.
The Cessna Citation seats eight passengers. But until the plane has been separated from the rubble, it won't be known for sure how many passengers and crew were aboard.
The flight had originated in Hailey Idaho. The plane is registered to Creative Real Estate Exchange, which is based in Atlanta Georgia and Birmingham Alabama ... according to the company's website. Federal Aviation Administration
records show the owner of the plane to be a Malibu resident.
