UPDATE: 2 SUVs Collide Head-On in Palisades, 2 Transported

The accident occurred Wednesday evening at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Rivas Canyon Road.

Two sports utility vehicles collided head-on Wednesday night in Pacific Palisades, with two people driver being transported to a hospital, according to Palisades Patrol and the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Pali Patrol officer Nayeli Mizoo said the accident occurred at approximately 10:10 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Rivas Canyon Road between a Honda Pilot and a blue sports utility vehicle. Both sustained heavy front end damage.

Los Angeles police and fire departments responded to the scene, and Pali Patrol directed traffic until it was cleared. Mizoo said the road re-opened at 11:51 p.m.

Mizoo said the driver of the Honda is a white man in his 50s, and the driver of the blue SUV were transported to a hospital.

LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey said Thursday both patients were transferred to St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica and arrived at 10:45 p.m.

Humphrey said the accident investigation is being handled by LAPD's West Traffic Division. An investigator said Thursday morning they have not yet received Wednesday night's report.
