Pali Announces Full 2013 Roster

Los Angeles, Calif. (May 10, 2013) – The Pali Blues are pleased to announce the full list of players who will compete for the club’s third W-league title. The Blues are set to begin the 2013 season on Saturday, May 18, against the LA Strikers. The first group of players to sign with Pali this year was a quarter of UCLA Bruins Samantha Mewis, Sarah Killion, Abby Dahlkemper, and Jenna Richmond. Among the Bruins is Caprice Dydasco, who was added shortly after. Mewis and Killion most recently won first place the U-20 FIFA World Cup with the USA in 2012. Naimo has also added USC standouts Autumn Altamirano, Megan Borman, and Elizabeth Eddy, plus one of the most talented players in Trojan soccer history, Ashley Nick, who graduated in 2008, as well as 2010 and 2011 alumnae Kasey Johnson and Ashley Freyer, respectively. Pepperdine’s Roxanne Barker, also on the South African national team, and Lynn Williams who led the team in scoring last year, will also suit of for the Blues this season. Cal State Dominguez Hills’ Melanie DeSalvo will also return to Pali for a second season. Naimo has also recruited collegiate talent from outside the Los Angeles area. Stanford standout and U-20 World Cup champion Chioma Ubogagu will join the squad along with UNC’s Satara Murray, Virginia’s Makenzy Doniak, and Michigan’s Maddie Clarfield. In addition, Florida State’s Jamia Field returns for a second season after having played for the Blues in 2011. This year’s young payers are mixed with a solid group of veterans. Italian national team goalkeeper Anna Picarelli returns for her third season and defender Sasha Andrews, formerly of the Canadian national team, will play her fourth season for the Blues. Another player returning to Pali is Mele French who was part of the 2008 championship team. First-year Blues Diana Redman of the Israeli national team and Edite Fernandes of Portugal also come in with a lot of experience to help a young team achieve the ultimate goal of winning the league championship. 2013 Roster: Goalkeepers: Roxanne Barker, Maddie Clarefield, Anna Picarelli Defenders: Sasha Andrews, Abby Dahlkemper, Caprice Dydasco, Elizabeth Eddy, Ashley Freyer, Kasey Johnson, Satara Murray Midfielders: Autumn Altamirano, Megan Borman, Melanie DeSalvo, Sarah Killion, Samantha Mewis, Ashley Nick, Diana Redman, Jenna Richmond Forwards: Makenzy Doniak, Edite Fernandes, Jamia Fields, Mele French, Chioma Ubogagu, Lynn Williams
