Pacific Palisades Media Man Sid Galanty Dies at 81

Galanty helped create 'The Jane Fonda Workout.' He had lived in Marquez Knolls since 1966 and was an MKPOA board member for more than 13 years.

Sidney (Sid) Galanty  was born May 15, 1932 and passed away at the age of 81 on Oct. 5, 2013. 

Galanty had lived in Marquez Knolls since 1966 and had been a Board member of MKPOA for over 13 years.  He passed away on Oct. 5.

An advertising specialist, political media consultant and seasoned director in broadcasting, television, and political media, he was a consultant to the U.S. Army’s Space Program and later joined the administration of President John F. Kennedy where he received the Distinguished Government Service Award.

In 1990 Galanty helped create, produce and market the Jane Fonda Workout.  In addition to many other industry awards, Sid won the Berlin Film Festival award for Seeds of Hope and Cannes Film Festival Award.  He also lectured at Yale, Columbia, Lewis & Clark and UCLA. 

Despite his ailing health, Galanty continued to participate in Marquez Knolls Property Owners Association affairs. Most recently, he set up the audio equipment at the recent MKPOA Block Party.
