What did my husband discover about me on our anniversary this year? That I, his wife and the wonderful George Harrison have something in common; unintentional plagiarism.
Those of A Certain Age will remember that George was successfully sued by the people who wrote “He’s So Fine” (sing it: doo lang, doo lang, doo lang) because it was, in essence, the same song as “My Sweet Lord” (sing it: “My Sweet Lord…” Yup. Same song.)
With that as a backdrop, let’s take a look at the anniversary cards we recently exchanged, shall we? Peter to Marni: “Happy Anniversary to you—the embodiment of all my dreams…” Marni to Peter (written 3 days later): “You are the embodiment of all my dreams come true”.
He told me it was so sweet, and what a lovely sentiment, but better lawyer up, my darling…
