Palisadian Named Finalist to L.A. Business Journal's "Top 5 Women Making a Difference"

Fiona Francois, Pacific Palisades resident and regional director of the United Kingdom Trade & Investment (“UKTI”) was named as one of the five Finalists in the “Rising Star of the Year” Award category Tuesday of the Los Angeles Business Journal 21st annual "Women Making a Difference" awards. Francois was one of 252 nominees for the 2013 awards, and she was named before 700 attendees at the luncheon held at the JW Marriott Hotel at L.A. Live.

“There could not be a more appropriate and deserving finalist, said Paul J. Wright, president of the British American Business Council, Los Angeles.

After graduating in June 2002, Fiona has had a meteoric rise culminating in June 2009 when she became the youngest ever appointee by the British government to her current position as UKTI regional director with responsibility for 31 U.S.  States.

"It is a little known fact that the U.S. and the UK on a country-by-country basis are the largest investors in each other’s economy," Wright added. "Fiona has made a substantial contribution to this. The British American Business Council is proud to work with her and the UKTI."

“Fiona has been a dynamic force in the business relationship between the UK and the US west coast since coming to Los Angeles in 2009, helping hundreds of US and UK companies develop their international business," said BritWeek Chairman and former British Consul General Bob Peirce.
