Vive la France! The Malibu Friends of Music present: The Lost Art of the Recital...

In the early and mid-parts of the 20th Century, piano and violin teams traveled the globe performing recitals for a public who thirsted to hear and meet their favorite artists. Almost as though it were "written" all over the airwaves, fans were able to recognize these superb musicians by the quality of their individual sounds and the uniqueness of their musical language.

This art has been lost. Only a few superstars remain in a world that now hungers for pop culture and immediate satisfaction.

Join us at the Montgomery Arts House for Music and Architecture (MAHMA) for an evening remembering a time lost, when music lovers would gather for friendship, refreshments, and to discuss their favorite music... and just as heartily, declare their individual opinions; a time when discussion, as one of the few forms of entertainment, was wielded effortlessly.

World famous pianist, the dynamic Delores Stevens, joins resident violinist, Maria Newman, for a recital of exquisite French gems and other musical surprises of the classical repertoire. As the years fall away, allowing simpler times to emerge, the two will become one in performances of French masterworks by Gabriel Fauré and Cesar Franck

Malibu Coast Chamber Orchestra Conductor and Violinist, Scott Hosfeld, joins the duo in an old-style presentation of one of the most beloved works of all time: the German High Baroque Composer, Johann Sebastian Bach's Double Violin Concerto.

Rounding out the evening will be a performance of composer Maria Newman's Quandam Sonata for Violin and Piano.

Don't miss this intimate opportunity to mingle with other music lovers in a unique architectural venue, gathering for friendship and discussion over wine & cheese!
