Community Corner

Young Writers' Conference

On Saturday, November 3rd, St. Matthew's Parish School will host the Young Writers' Conference. This unique event will bring 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students from schools across the community together in one location to learn writing techniques from professional writers. Every participant will spend the day attending three different sessions, each with a different author. The writers will introduce the students to various genres of writing and ask the students to create their own individual pieces. The speakers are experienced with and excited about working with children. Many of the speakers may be someone with whom you or your child are already familiar. Our keynote speaker is D.J. McHale, the author of the Pendragon series! This is an amazing opportunity for young students to experience  the joy of creative writing and it's happening right here on our Palisades doorstep! Don't miss out! Register today! The cost to participate is $145 per student (this includes the keynote address, three workshops, a conference T-shirt, and all writing materials). For more information about the conference or to register your child, feel free to visit the YWC website at www.youngwritersconference.org.
